Ekpo Urges Lookman to Adapt Fast at Atletico Madrid

Ademola Lookman has been advised to quickly embrace Atletico Madrid’s demanding style of play following his €40million move from Atalanta.

Former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo congratulated the Super Eagles forward on joining the Spanish giants, urging him to adapt swiftly to Diego Simeone’s tactical system.

Lookman, unveiled on Tuesday, will wear the number 22 shirt and is expected to make his debut in the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Real Betis.

Ekpo noted that Atletico’s approach differs significantly from Atalanta’s, emphasizing that the move could elevate Lookman’s career if he works hard and adjusts to the team’s defensive philosophy.

He explained that Simeone’s system requires every player to contribute defensively, starting from the front line, which will demand more from Lookman.

Former Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze also expressed concern about how Lookman will settle into Simeone’s philosophy, pointing out that the coach favors players with high work rates over those who rely heavily on dribbling or holding onto the ball.
