Emeruwa: Let’s improve Nigerian football together
CAF head of safety and security states his vision and mission to reform football as NFF President
One of the aspirants to the presidential seat of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Christian Emeruwa says he is on a mission to rebuild, promote, foster and develop football for all Nigeria.
Emeruwa, head of Safety and Security at the Confederation of African Football, CAF, said at a press conference in Lagos to declare his interest in the post to be vacated by Amaju Pinnick at the end of this month that he is coming with a bagful ideas and experience after serving in the Nigeria Football Federation for 11 years and under three Secretary Generals.
‘I want to rebuld the NFF as a world class,innovative organisation, inspiring a whole nation and every boy and
girl to be part vof the Nigerian football family,’ he said of his vision.
Continuing, Emeruwa says he wants to remodel the existing foundation of Nigerian football and build
a new foundation whose pillars will be enshrined on administrative competence, credibility, transparency, accountability
and above all integrity.
He also said he wants to build a Nigeria football system whereby ‘our league players will be well paid enough such as they will able to afford to stop and think before accepting any offers that comes from Europ’.
With a campaign theme of “It’s Turnaround Time”, Emeruwa made it clear that he has a mission to re-brand the Nigerian football industry in its entirety.
He said that the development of the various football leagues in the country is a key pillar of his strategy.
He also pointed out that revenue drive to administer the Nigerian football is one of his cardinal programmes.
“We pledge to run the NFF in a transparent and efficient manner, and will make sure that every income generated by NFF will go back into supporting the development of football in Nigeria.”
He made powerpoint presentation of his objectives while also presenting video clips of endorsements by football stakeholders.
Among such are Andrew Ndanga Kamanga, president of Football Association of Zambia, Anthony Baffoe, a former Ghana international and deputy general secretary of CAF as well as David Van Vuuren, a South African FIFA and CAF Security Officer.
