Endoni Charges Golden Eaglets to Win WAFU-B U17 Championship

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Ambassador Syndoph Paebi Endoni, has charged the Golden Eaglets to win the WAFU-B U17 Championship and make millions of football-loving Nigerians proud.

Endoni delivered the message on Friday evening during a dinner hosted in honour of the team and their officials at the Nigerian Embassy in Ouagadougou, ahead of the championship.

‘Win for us. Win for the millions of football-loving Nigerians all over the world,’ Endoni told the players, urging them to represent the country with pride and fly the national flag high.

The ambassador, a former basketball player and founder of Royal Hoopers Basketball Club in Port Harcourt, which later metamorphosed into Rivers Hoopers, reminded the youngsters that representing Nigeria was a privilege many aspiring footballers would cherish.

‘There are millions of young footballers waiting for this opportunity to represent Nigeria. You have come here to represent Nigeria. I therefore charge you to fly Nigeria’s flag higher and higher,’ he said.

Endoni also urged the players to learn quickly from their mistakes and maintain a winning mentality throughout the competition.

;You may make mistakes on the pitch, but you must correct them immediately and ensure that you win all your games,’ he said.

He further highlighted football’s role in youth development, describing the sport as an important tool for steering young people away from criminality and encouraging them to contribute positively to society.

‘Nigeria will continue to be strong when we encourage these young ones to take their minds off criminality, and football is key in this regard,’ Endoni added.

Ahead of Nigeria’s opening match against Niger Republic on Wednesday, the ambassador assured the team of strong backing from Nigerians living in Burkina Faso.

He disclosed that thousands of Nigerians reside in the country and pledged to mobilise the community to support the Golden Eaglets throughout the championship.

‘I want to assure you that Nigerians here will be at the stadium to support the team. We have thousands of Nigerians in this country. The Nigerian community will give the team huge support in all its matches in the championship,’ he said.
