Enugu Rangers set up committee for the re-birth of its Academicals

The management of Nigeria league champions, Rangers International F.C, has inaugurated a nine-man committee to help see to the re-birth of Rangers Academicals with Barrister Joe Onyeabor as chairman and Ugwu Francis as the scribe of the committee.
Inaugurating the committee that had former club legends like Okechukwu Uchebo, Ogechukwu Ileagu, John Nnam, Nnamdi Anyasodo, Eze Nonso, Frankie Omokhua, and Boniface Onovo representing the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Enugu State at the club’s corporate office, Thursday, the G.M/CEO of Rangers, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, charged the committee to go into all secondary schools in the state, around the South-East region, and as far as the South-South region to identify budding football talents to be groomed for the future of the club.
In his opening remarks, the Rangers boss thanked members of the committee for accepting to serve the club in their various capacities.
‘I am glad that you accepted to answer this call to service for the club. I thank you all for honoring the club’s invitation. The essence of this meeting is to announce the return of the Rangers Academicals.
‘Just as it was in the foundation days of the club when footballers came from their various schools to defend the badge of the club, so we desire for now and the future of this great club. Part of our vision and mission for the club is to restore the full glory of Rangers and make it a truly professional and international club.
‘The committee’s inauguration officially starts the club’s drive at getting young secondary school footballers from around Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta and as far as we can go. As soon as the road map from the committee is made available, we are surely going to pull resources together for this cause. It is the belief of the club that if we go back to our roots we won’t lose our way,’ he said.
Chairman of the committee, Barrister Onyeabor in his reaction, said, ‘This is a great platform that the management of Rangers has created for us, members of the Rangers Academicals Committee, to display our passion and love for the club and we shall give all our best to ensure that this dream comes to fruition.
‘With the crème-de-la-crème of the round leather game that has played the game to the highest level both within and outside the country, we are sure on our part to bring back the glory days of academic football in the club.’
