Enyimba FC chairman Anyansi Agwu gets CAF President’s special invitation for AFCON final
Enyimba Football Club Chairman, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu has received a special invitation from the President of the Confederation of African Football to honour the final of the 2021 AFCON that is ongoing in Cameroon.
Anyansi Agwu’s invitation, according to the club’s official website is contained in a letter personally signed by the CAF President, Mr. Patrice Motsepe.
The 2021 AFCON is billed to wind down with the final match at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on Sunday February 6, and Anyansi Agwu, who is also a member of the executive committee of the Nigerian Football Federation, has been chosen by the CAF president as one of his special guests.
Anyansi Agwu’s inclusion in the exclusive invitation list of the CAF supremo comes as a worthy recognition of the contributions of the Enyimba Chairman in African football.
Recall that in September 2021, Anyansi Agwu was among the seven club administrators in Africa that were invited to meet with FIFA president Gianni Infantino to map a way forward for African football.
Anyansi Agwu has overseen the most flourishing era of Nigeria’s most successful football club, Enyimba FC, guiding the People’s Elephant to two CAF Champions League titles and eight Nigerian League triumphs. The 56-year-old has also won numerous personal awards, including the CAF Football Administrator of the Year which he bagged on two occasions.
