EPL Assists: Iwobi moves joint second with Yak, closes in on Kanu record

Alex Iwobi provided the assist for Seamus Coleman to score Everton’s winner in Saturday’s Premier League game against Leeds United at Goodison Park. With that the Nigerian has now provided six Premier League assists this season, the joint-most he has managed in a single campaign since 2018/19 season he also bagged six assists in 35 games. The 26 year old has also moved level in second place with Yakubu Aiyegbeni in the all-time list of Nigerian players in the Premier League with the most assists. Both are now on 26 assists, three behind Nwankwo Kanu who tops the chart with 29 assists. With just 23 games so far played this season in the competition, it looks increasingly likely the former Arsenal player will either equal or break Kanu’s record. Iwobi has started in all 23 Premier League games Everton have played so far this season and has scored just once. He has made 47 tackles, 14 interceptions and has fired 20 shots with just six on target.
