EPL: Onyeka, Ndidi two yellow cards away from suspension

Defensive midfielders Frank Onyeka and Wilfred Ndidi are two yellow cards away from a mandatory one game suspension in the Premier League, SportsNow can report.

Onyeka, in his first season in the Premier League after joining from Danish side,… last summer plies his trade with Brenford FC while Ndidi plays for 2016 Premier League champions, Leicester City.

Both players are among a host of players like Marcos Alonso (Chelsea), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Manchester City’s Bernado Silva on three yellow cards and are two bookings from a one-match ban.

According to the Premier League rules, any player earning five bookings from their side’s first 19 Premier League matches will serve a one-match ban in the same competition. Yellow cards are not carried over to the EFL Cup or FA Cup.

Players who accumulate 10 yellow cards in Premier League matches up to and including their team’s 32nd fixture will serve a two-match suspension in the competition.
If they get two bookings each in their next two games, both Onyeka and Ndidi will join Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis as the first three Nigerians to bag a yellow-card induced suspension.

Dennis was suspended for the Hornets’ 1-0 loss to visitig Southampton at the Vicarage Road stadium following his suspension after earning five yellow cards in his first nine Premier League games.
