Erling Haaland makes Premier League history yet again!

Becomes first player to score three consecutive home hat-tricks as Man City crush Man United 6-3

Erling Haaland has set yet another Premier League record in only his eighth game in the competition.

The Norwegian scored three times in Manchester City’s 6-3 humuliation of cross-city rival, Manchester United at the Etihad stadium and in the process becomes the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in three consecutive home games in the competition.

He is also the fastest to three Premier League hat-tricks ever. He managed it in eight games. The previous record holder was Michael Owen who did it in 48 matches.

Haaland’s first came on 34 minutes with the former Borussia Dortmund player rising higest from Kevin De Bruyne’s corner and powers home to put the Cityzens 2-0 up after Phil Foden scored the opener after eight minutes.

The goal made Haaland (22 years and 73 days) the second-youngest player to score in his first Manchester derby for Man City in the Premier League, after Mario Balotelli in October 2011 (21years and 72 days).

Haaland netted his second of the game two minutes later from a yet another De Bruyne assist before Foden added Man City’s fourth goal to end the first half 4-0.

The Norwegian opened City’s goal ccount in the second half to make it 5-1 after Anthony Santos scored for the visityors after the restart.

The Man City number nine completed his hat-trick on 65 minutes, burying a Sergio Gomez’s assist with his left feet.

Foden completed the rout eight minutes later with his own hat-trick, his first in a Manchester derby.

With the goal, Haaland and Foden made Man City only the third side to have two hat-trick scorers in a single Premier League game, after Arsenal v Southampton in May 2003 (Jermaine Pennant and Robert Pires) & Leicester v Southampton in October 2019 (Ayoze Pérez and Jamie Vardy).

Two late goals by Manchester United helped give a respectable headline to the game and also made it the highest-scoring ever Manchester derby in any competition.
