Ese Brume Pays Emotional Tribute to Coach Kayode Yahaya

Multiple global medalist Ese Brume has paid a glowing tribute to her long-time coach, Kayode Yahaya, who celebrated his birthday on Monday, May 18.
Brume, one of only two Nigerian athletes to have won medals at all three global athletics events, took to Facebook to honor Yahaya, describing him as far more than just a coach.
‘Happy birthday Apa. Thank you for being far more than just a coach to me. Your guidance, support, discipline, and constant belief in me have shaped not just my career, but my life as well,’ she wrote.
The Olympic and World Championship medalist praised Yahaya’s role as a mentor and father figure, acknowledging his sacrifices and unwavering encouragement throughout her journey.
‘You have truly been a mentor, father figure, and a blessing on this journey. Thank you for every lesson, every correction, every encouragement, and every sacrifice,’ she added.
Brume concluded her tribute with prayers for Yahaya’s continued health, happiness, and strength, expressing her deep gratitude and affection.
