Everton Vs Man City: Iwobi looking to make Premier League assist history

Alex Iwobi will be looking to rewrite some unwanted records as well as set a personal and national record when he files out with Everton Sunday at Goodison
Park to face league leaders and defending champion, Manchester City.

The 27 year old will be seeking for his 10th goal involvement of the season and if he sets up a goal he will overtake Peter Odemwingie as the highest-
assisting Nigerian in a Premier League season.

Odemwingie provided seven assists in 32 games in his Premier League debut in 2010/11 with West Brom, a feat Iwobi equalled last week when he set up Everton’s
fourth goal in the 5-1 demolition of Brigthon at the Amex stadium.

Iwobi’s assist last week moved him to number two (27) in the Nigerian all-time list behind Arsenal legend, Nwankwo Kanu.

The Everton midfeilder will also set a personal goal involvement record of 10, one more than the nine he achieved in the 2018/19 season (three goals and
six assists) if he scores or assists on Sunday.

Iwobi will also be eager to help Everton beat Man City as they fight to stay up and if he is able to achieve this, it will be his first win in 12 Premier League games and first in 14 appearances across all competitions against the Cityzens.

The Nigerian has lost 10 of his last 13 games and has neither scored nor provided an assist against the table toppers.

Iwobi has featured 210 times in the Premier League since he made his debut in October 2015 and has scored 17 times. He is just two appearances from drawing level with Victor Moses as the joint sixth Nigerian in the history of the competition.

He is also three goals away from becoming the joint ninth Nigerian top scorer with Moses in Premier League history.
