Fabbri Wins Again as Enekwechi Climbs to Second in Ostrava

Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi delivered a strong performance at the Ostrava Golden Spike, a prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event, finishing second in the men’s shot put.

The 33-year-old Nigerian improved on his third-place finish from 2024, recording a best throw of 21.43m in the third round.

His effort placed him behind Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri, the two-time world medallist, who secured his third consecutive Ostrava victory since 2024 with a dominant series of throws, all above 21m, capped by a winning mark of 21.91m.

Enekwechi was one of only three athletes to surpass the 21m barrier in Ostrava. New Zealand’s Tom Walsh, a two-time Olympic bronze medallist and 2017 world champion, claimed third place with a fifth-round throw of 21.26m.
