Abasiono Akpan runs new personal season's best in 400m hurdles
Former Nigeria 100m champion, Favour Ashe looks to have been cleared of the multiple counts of theft and fraud preferred against him by the Auburn Police as
he has been listed to compete in the 100m event at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday.
The Nigerian, according to Auburn Police, was specifically charged with four counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit card and two counts of theft of
property third degree.
The storm seems over for Ashe who will be the athlete to watch in the blue ribband race at the event. He has been drawn in the first of five heats and he is the only man who broken 10 seconds over the distance in the line up.
The 21 year old holds a lifetime best of 9.92 in the event and will be aiming to return to form early following the disappointment of missing the NCAA
Division Indoor Championship early this month in Boston.
In the women’s 400m hurdles decided on Friday night, Abasiono Akpan ran 57.36 to place fourth in the overall classification.
The 23 year old’s time is a personal season’s best, an improvement on the 58.38 she ran at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee, Florida last week. She holds a lifetime best of 56.57 in the event, the 12th fastest time ever by a Nigerian in the event.
