FIFA Ranking: Guinea-Bissau Biggest Points Gainer As Cabo Verde Suffer Heaviest Loss

Guinea-Bissau emerged as the biggest points gainer in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking released on Wednesday, adding 35.64 points after a strong October international window.

Cabo Verde suffered the biggest points loss, dropping 29.39 points in the latest update.

Spain retained top spot in the world with 2,011.57 points, while Argentina remained second, France third and England fourth.

Portugal climbed two places to fifth, with Brazil moving up one place to sixth. Morocco slipped one place to seventh but remained the highest-ranked African nation and the only African country inside the global top 10.

Senegal remained second in Africa and 18th in the world with 1,648.84 points after beating Comoros 1-0.

Egypt dropped one place to 25th after a 1-0 defeat to South Africa, while Algeria moved up one place to 28th following a 2-1 victory over Niger.

Côte d’Ivoire fell two places to 29th after losing 1-0 to Cameroon, while Nigeria dropped four places from 26th to 30th following a 3-3 draw with Russia.

Cameroon climbed one place to 42nd after their win over Côte d’Ivoire, while DR Congo also moved up one place to 40th following a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe.

Mali were among the biggest climbers in the latest ranking, moving up six places to 47th despite their 1-1 draw with Morocco. South Africa also climbed six places to 48th after beating Egypt.

The latest update also produced significant movement among teams outside Africa’s leading group, with Guinea-Bissau recording the biggest points gain of the ranking period and Cabo Verde registering the largest points loss.
