First three goals, three points and clean sheet for Ikorodu City in NPFL!

Ikorodu City FC secured their first victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos as the Oga Boys defeated Bendel Insurance of Benin 3-0.

It was the NPFL debutants’ first hat-trick, first three points and first clean sheet in the Nigerian topflight league.

Rivio Ayemwenre put the host in front three minutes after the restart after heading in a lovely cross from team captain, Waliu.

The second goal was scored by Kelechi Onwe on 55 minutes. The lanky midfielder met a long throw from Tosin Oyedokun and headed it past the Bendel Insurance goalkeeper.

It was Kelechi’s first ever top flight goal. The third goal came 18 minutes later and it was scored by Ajeyigbe Toyeeb who is back with the squad for the first time this season marked his return with a goal by taking out the goalkeeper and blasting into the net.

The win moved Ikorodu City to 17th on the log with four points from six games.

At the Dipo Dina stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Rangers international lost for the second time in three away games this season after going down 1-0 to Sunshine Stars.
