Folarin Balogun: I’m Ready To Play For The Super Eagles, If…
Arsenal star Folarin Balogun has refused to shut the door on playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and has admitted his undying love for his country of origin.
Balogun who plays on loan at French Ligue 1 side, Reims and has netted seven times in 12 appearances for the club told BBC Africa in an interview he will definitely consider switching his international allegiance albeit he has featured for England at junior levels.
‘I haven’t heard anything from Nigeria, but I’m open to anything because Nigeria is very close to my heart. My family’s from there. I always have love for Nigeria,’ he said.
The forward who made just two Premier League appearances for Arsenal before going on loan for the first time outside the United Kingdom says he will definitely consider an invite from Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peseiro.
‘That’s a conversation that I need to have with people around me, my agent and obviously my family.
‘But if I was asked about the opportunity to play for Nigeria, then I can have that conversation. But first I need to be asked.’
Nigeria will have the opportunity to invite Balogun when the Super Eagles face Costa Rica in San Jose, California, USA on 9th November and Portugal on 17th November at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, Portugal in two Grade A friendlies.
