Frank Onyeka Joins Coventry in Loan-to-Buy Agreement

Coventry City have reached an agreement to sign Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the deal has been completed between all parties, including the player.

The move will see Onyeka join on loan for the remainder of the season, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer if Coventry secure promotion to the Premier League.

The Nigeria international had attracted interest from Championship rivals Birmingham City and Sheffield United, but Coventry have won the race for his signature.

Manager Frank Lampard has been eager to strengthen his midfield options as the Sky Blues look to maintain their push for automatic promotion.

Coventry remain top of the Championship, though only on goal difference after a recent dip in form.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at QPR allowed Middlesbrough to draw level on points following their 1-0 win over Norwich. Lampard is determined to add depth and Premier League experience to his squad, and Onyeka’s arrival could prove crucial in the run-in.

Onyeka, who joined Brentford in 2021 and has featured in the Premier League, now looks set to play a key role in Coventry’s bid to return to the top flight.
