From A Gunner To An Eagle: Tomiyasu Joins Crystal Palace After Ajax Spell

Crystal Palace F.C. have completed the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu, with the Japan international becoming manager Pierre Sage’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old defender joins the Eagles after a successful trial period, following Oscar Mingueza through the doors at Selhurst Park.

Tomiyasu arrives with a wealth of top-level experience, having spent four years at Arsenal before moving to Ajax for the second half of last season. He also represented Japan at this summer’s FIFA World Cup and has earned 46 international caps.

Speaking after sealing the move, Tomiyasu expressed his delight at joining the south London club.

‘I’m excited to get started. This club is in a good moment, winning three titles in two seasons. Here is where I wanted to be.’

Crystal Palace will hope Tomiyasu’s versatility, defensive quality and international experience will strengthen the squad as they look to build on their recent domestic success and compete on multiple fronts during the 2026/27 campaign.
