Fulham 1-2 Man United: Garnacho steals the headlines, makes history

Red Devils strike at the death to snatch points at Craven Cottage

Alejandro Garnacho’s first Premier League goal with virtually the final kick of the game sealed a 2-1 win for Manchester United at Craven Cottage anmd moved the Red Devils up to fifth on the log with 26 points from 14 matches.

The Man United academy graduate made history in the process as he became the youngest player to score a 90th-minute winner in the Premier League since Federico Macheda against Aston Villa, also for Manchester United, in April 2009 (17 years 226 days).

Premier League pundit Michael Owen says Garnacho has been knocking on the door of greatness since the start of the season.

“What a finish to the game, and what a finish from Garnacho! Only a young guy, 18 years, old, but he’s burst on to the scene in recent times. Wow! The burst of pace and directness he’s shown, it’s just incredible. His grin says it all and that could be a huge, huge night for him and for Manchester United,” Owen told Premier League productions.

Another Premier League pundit Darren Bent shares in Owen’s sentiment.

“Garnacho was electric coming off the bench today – his pace, his control, his directness and his composure. He reminded me of a teenage Michael Owen!”

Man United players are not left out in singing the praises of their new hero.

“Garnacho has a lot of talent and he can make the difference. Everyone is seeing the signs; not because of his goals or his assists but because of what he’s doing when he comes off the bench. His attitude off the bench has been fantastic and he’s making the difference for us,’ says midfielder Bruno Fernandes

Defender Victor Lindelof agrees Garnacho is a great talent.

‘Alejandro is a great talent and he’s been showing his qualities these last couple of weeks. He’s been working very hard in training and when he’s got his opportunities to play, he’s showing his talent. He’s got great confidence and great quality and it’s great to see that in a young player.”
