Fulham Close to Signing Chibuike Nwaiwu in Potential Record-Breaking Transfer

Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Premier League side Fulham in a deal that could become the most expensive transfer in the Turkish club’s history.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Fulham has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the 22-year-old Nigerian centre-back, who is expected to sign a four-year contract if negotiations between the two clubs are successfully concluded.

Fulham is now said to be working toward an agreement with Trabzonspor, which is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of €30 million for the highly rated defender.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Austrian club Wolfsberger in January and quickly established himself as one of the standout performers in the squad.

During the 2025/26 season, he made 21 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and one assist while earning praise for his consistent defensive displays.

His impressive form has attracted significant interest during the summer transfer window, with Fulham emerging as the leading contender for his signature.

Should the deal be completed at Trabzonspor’s reported asking price, Nwaiwu would become the club’s most expensive player sale, surpassing the previous record set by goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, who transferred to Galatasaray for €27.5 million last summer.

Negotiations between Fulham and Trabzonspor are ongoing, with the Premier League club aiming to finalize the transfer before the start of the new season. Neither club has officially confirmed the reported agreement.
