Gabriel Jesus targets fifth goal in nine Premier League games vs Liverpool
Brazilian has scored all his goals against Klopp's men at home
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus will be seeking to score his fifth goal in nine appearances against Liverpool when both sides meet at the Emirates stadium on Sunday.
The Brazilian who switched from Manchester to London in the summer has been involved in six goals in his eight Premier League games against Liverpool (4 goals, 2 assists), with all four goals coming in home games.
The 26 year old scored a brace in his first Premier League game against Jurgen Klopp’s men in Manchester City’s 5-0 win at the Etihad stadium in September 2017.
Jesus waited four years and four games later to score against Liverpool again and this time he netted to rescue a point for Man City in their 1-1 draw at the Etihad stadium in November 2020/
He scored his fourth home goal against the Meseryside club in April this year when he restored Man City’s lead before Sadio Mané to end the game 2-2.
If he scores on Sunday in his first game against Liverpool as an Arsenal player, it will be his fifth in the Premier League and sixth overall after netting in the Cityzens 2-1 loss at the quarterfinal stage of the UEFA Champions League in April 2018.
Sunday’s game will be his 12th against Klopp’s men across all competitions.
A win for the Gunners will end a run of four straight losses and Mikel Arteta’s men can bank on their impressive run so far this term, winning seven of the eight games they have palyed so far this season.
Interestingly, Liverpool have yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season, drawing twice and losing once in their three games.
