Getafe Chief Torres eyes Uche return amid Crystal Palace woes

Getafe president Ángel Torres has signaled that the club is ready to welcome back striker Christantus Uche from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, as doubts mount over the Premier League side’s ability to meet the conditions of his purchase option.

The Nigerian forward’s deal with Palace included a mandatory buy clause tied to performance criteria, but Torres admitted that ‘it doesn’t look good’ at the moment.

Torres stressed that there is still room for circumstances to change, leaving open the possibility of Palace retaining Uche.

Yet he was equally clear that Getafe would not hesitate to reintegrate the player should he return to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

‘He’d be welcome back if he returns,’ Torres said, before laying out a simple plan for Uche’s future: bring him back into the squad and look to sell him next year.

Uche’s time in England has been limited, with just four substitute appearances for the Eagles since his loan move last summer, amounting to a combined total of only 20 minutes on the pitch.
