Gunners aiming for five straight wins for the first time in 18 years
Arsenal have become the fourth club in Premier League history to finish top of the table in a matchday fixture for the 1,000th time.
The Gunners will play their matchweek five fixture on Wednesday when they host struggling Aston Villa at the Emirates stadium but have made history even before the game.
This was made possible by Brighton who lost their matchweek five fixture 2-1 to their host, Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The result means Mikel Arteta’s side finished the matchday fixture top of the Premier League for the 1,000th time, a figure bettered by only Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Arsenal will also be aiming to start a Premier League season with five wins for only the second time if they beat Aston Villa on Wednesday.
The Gunners last achieved this in 2004/2005 season when they defeated Everton (1-4), Middlesbrough (5-3), Blackburn (3-0), Norwich (1-4) and Fulham (0-3).
Arsenal will also be wary of losing for the fifth time in the competition at home to Aston Villa.
Only Chelsea and Man City have won more Premier League away matches at Emirates than Aston Villa’s four.
