‘I am glad I am back in my sprinting form’, Thompson-Herah warns with 10.84 in Brussels ahead of Paris Olympics

Double Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson-Hera ran a 10.84 personal season’s best over the 100m Friday evening at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme Diamond
League meeting in Brussels, Belgium to send a strong signal she would be ready to defend her titles at next year’s Olympics in Paris, France.

The 31 year old successfully defended the 100 and 200m titles she won at the Rio 2016 Olympics five years later in Tokyo and has told whoever cares to listen
she is willing to become the first woman to successfully complete the 100m/200m double for the third straight Olympic Games.

In Brussels, Thompson-Herah, who failed to make the Jamaican team in both the 100m and 200m events to the 19th World Athletics Champiopships showed flashes
of her 2021 form when she stormed home first ahead of fellow Jamaican, Natasha Morrison who also ran a 10.95 personal season’s best and Britain’s Dina
Asher-Smith (10.97).

Thompson-Herah who, however, will not be in Eugene, Oregon for the final of the event expressed delight post race that she is getting back to the form that fetched Olympic gold in the 100m and 200m events at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics.

‘It was a tough season, but I´m glad that I´m back in my sprinting form. A couple of nights ago I ran 10,92 in Bellizona and I´m happy to improve that result tonight.

‘I feel healthy and in tonight´s race I was able to keep swinging and punching untill the finish line. With the shape that I´m in I hope to get a good result next week as well,’ said the Jamaican.
