Ian Wright Warns Gunners: Focus on Yourselves, Not Manchester City

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged his former club to concentrate solely on their own performances as the Premier League title race intensifies.
Speaking after Arsenal’s win over Newcastle, Wright emphasized that Manchester City’s experience and consistency make them relentless challengers, regardless of fixture congestion.
‘City know they have to navigate this, regardless of playing the FA Cup. This is the Premier League. I’m not sure Man City will care how many games they have to play to be able to do it. We’re talking about a team who’ve been able to do it four times on the spin. They’ll be chasing Arsenal down regardless of how the fixtures pan out,’ Wright said.
He stressed that Arsenal must learn from last season’s collapse in the run-in, insisting that the Gunners cannot afford to be distracted by City’s progress.
‘You have to focus on yourselves. This is the problem that Arsenal have had in The Run In. They’ve got to learn from the experience of failing at this stage. That’s what they’re doing now, they can’t think about what’s going on with Manchester City. They can’t think about anything but what’s coming next.’
Reflecting on the Newcastle match, Wright admitted Arsenal were fortunate to face a side in poor form.
‘We don’t win comfortably, we make it difficult. But at this stage of the season, you just have to get it over the line. I think we done that today, we’re very fortunate we played a side in poor form. I’d be disappointed if I was a Newcastle fan. You take the win, I’m very happy to take it.’
