Iheanacho is seventh most subbed on player in Premier League history

When Kelechi Iheanacho was subbed on for Ricardo Pereira in Leicester City’s 1-0 loss to Bournemouth at the King Palace stadium on Saturday in a Premier League match week 30 game, it was the 16th time in 22 games this season and 115th time in 191 matches since he made his debut in the competition the Nigerian would be brought on as a substitute.

The Leicester player is not only the most subbed on Nigerian in the Premier League this season and all-time, he is also the seventh in competition history!.

The 26 year old made his Premier League debut as a substitute, playing for only a minute in his former club, Manchester City’s 2-0 defeat of Watford at the Etihad stadium in August 2015.

Since then, Iheanacho has supplanted Victor Anichebe (105) as the most subbed on Nigerian in the competition albeit both players are in the top 10 of that unwanted Premier League record.

Iheanacho is just four subbed ons away from moving to joint sixth most subbed on player with Brighton’s Danny Welbeck who has been subbed on 119 times in 295 Premier League games.

The Nigerian has also been subbed off in 53 of the 76 games he has started which means he has completed just 23 of the games he started.

The former Manchester City forward is however third on the list of assists providers by a Nigerian behind Nwankwo Kanu (29) and the duo of Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Alex Iwobi (26 each).

His 40 goals in the competition ranks him the fifth Nigerian top scorer and joint 168th overall in Premier League history.
