Iheanacho Makes Case for Eagles Return with Eight Goals in Six Games for Bursaspor

Kelechi Iheanacho’s remarkable goalscoring form for Bursaspor has strengthened his case for a return to the Super Eagles at a time when Nigeria are dealing with injury problems in attack.

The 29-year-old has scored eight goals in six matches for the Turkish second-tier club, including a stoppage-time winner in Monday’s 2-1 victory over Manisa FK.

Iheanacho has also provided two assists, giving him an impressive 10 goal contributions in his first six games for Bursaspor.

His form could prove particularly valuable to Nigeria with fellow strikers Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, both playing in Turkey, ruled out through injury and unavailable for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

While Iheanacho’s impressive run does not automatically guarantee a recall, his numbers have made his case increasingly difficult to ignore.

With Nigeria needing reliable attacking options, the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward appears to be timing his resurgence perfectly.
