Kelechi Iheanacho’s 74th minute assist for James Maddison in Leicester City’s 4-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates
stadium on Saturday has moved the 25 year old clear of Foluwashola Ameobi and Alex Iwobi in the Nigerian assist
list in the Premier League.
Iheanacho’s assist increased his total haul to 21 in 169 appearances, one more than the duo of Ameobi and Iwobi
with only the latter capable of equalling Iheanacho’s haul as he is still active in the Premier League while Ameobi
has long retired from the game of football.
Only Kanu Nwankwo and Yakubu Aiyegbeni have provided more assists than the Leicester City player.
Kanu has 29 assists while Aiyegbeni has provided three less (26).
Interestingly, only Iheanacho has bagged an assist this term after two rounds of games in the Premier League while
no Nigeria Nigerian player has been cautioned so far.
In terms of goals, only Taiwo Awoniyi and Joe Aribo have so far scored while Wilfred Ndidi remains the top tackler
with five successful tackles, more than Alex Iwobi and three more than the duo of Awoniyi and Aribo.
