Iheanacho: ‘My Dream Is To One Day Play With Osimhen’

Stanley Iheanacho has made a flying start to life back at FC Midtjylland, scoring three goals in his first three test matches and setting the tone for what he hopes will be a breakthrough season.

Reflecting on his return, Iheanacho described the opening weeks as ‘fantastic,’ expressing gratitude for the opportunity and determination to prove he deserves a central role in the team.

His confidence is built on a prolific spell in Portugal, where he finished as top scorer in Liga 3 with 14 goals for Mafra.

‘I’m actually still where I left off last season,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘At the end of last season, I scored five times in a row, and now I’m doing some of the same things here in the start-up. That is important to me.’

Two years in Portuguese football left a lasting impact. Iheanacho credits Mafra with shaping his mentality and teaching him valuable lessons both on and off the pitch. He highlighted improvements in his positioning inside the box and his timing of deep runs as key areas of growth.

Looking ahead, Iheanacho promised fans at MCH Arena energy and goals.

‘You can expect goals, of course, and a player who always gives everything he has, I want to be known for the energy I bring,’ he said.

The Nigerian forward also revealed his biggest football inspiration: Victor Osimhen.

‘He’s a great guy, a fighter who had to fight his way out of poverty. His warrior mentality is inspiring, and when he plays, he gives it his all, he’s so hungry to score goals. I can see many things from him in myself. I watch his clips and all the interviews he gives. I try to learn from him, and my dream is to one day play with him.’

Off the pitch, Iheanacho describes himself as someone who thrives on happiness and good energy.
