Iheanacho Returns to FC Midtjylland on Four-Year Deal

FC Midtjylland has confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Stanley Iheanacho, who joins the Danish Superliga side from Portuguese club C.D. Mafra.

The 21-year-old forward has agreed a contract that runs until December 31, 2030, marking a return to Central Jutland where he previously featured for the club’s U19 team.

Iheanacho is no stranger to Midtjylland. During the 2023/24 season, he made 22 appearances for the U19s, scoring 12 goals and impressing in the UEFA Youth League with two goals in four matches.

He also made a memorable first-team debut in a Danish Cup tie against Aabenraa BK, netting four goals.

After moving to Portugal, Iheanacho spent two seasons at Mafra, where he matured into a senior professional. He recorded 65 appearances and 17 goals across competitions, establishing himself as a dynamic attacking presence.

FC Midtjylland’s sports director Kristian Bach Bak expressed delight at the signing:

‘Stanley is still a young kid who came very far from home early on. He has matured during his time in Portugal, contributing with goals and assists last season. He is wonderfully positive, dynamic in his style of play, and has the quality of being able to score goals.’

For Iheanacho, the move represents both a homecoming and a new chapter:

‘I see it as a good opportunity to return to FC Midtjylland. The academy was my springboard and the start of my career. Mafra gave me valuable playing time, but now I feel ready for the next step. I know many of the team already, and I look forward to winning titles and playing in the Europa League.’
