Ikpeme Dedicates Flamingos’ World Cup Triumph To Tinubu

As President Directs Payment Of Outstanding Bonuses, Allowances

Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, has dedicated the Flamingos’ historic FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup triumph to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigeria defeated Japan 2-1 in Saturday night’s final in Morocco to become the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Ikpeme attributed the historic achievement to the support and encouragement the country’s national teams have received from the President.

‘This victory has been made possible by the support and special love shown to all the National Teams at every point in time by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,’ Ikpeme said.

‘The Father of the Nation has continued to be a father for all and we are grateful for his love and encouragement all the time.’

In recognition of the team’s historic achievement, Tinubu has directed the National Sports Commission (NSC) to settle the outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the players and officials.

The Flamingos’ triumph also gives Nigeria a unique place in FIFA U-17 World Cup history as the only African country to have won the competition in both the men’s and women’s categories.

The Golden Eaglets have won the men’s FIFA U-17 World Cup a record five times, lifting the trophy in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015.
