Ajayi clocked 9.84 seconds to equal the Nigerian record for the third time in his career, defeating reigning world champion Oblique Seville in the process.

The victory also improved Ajayi’s head-to-head record against the Jamaican sprinter to 3-1.

‘I am happy with the race today,’ Ajayi added after the race.

The latest victory further underlined Ajayi’s status as one of the world’s leading 100m sprinters.

The Nigerian is also a World Championships finalist and has continued to build impressive momentum ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

With his remarkable consistency and ability to produce world-class times, Ajayi has now emerged as one of the leading favourites to win gold in the men’s 100m at the Commonwealth Games.
