Imanol Alguacil: Umar Sadiq In Real Sociedad Squad To Play Atlético de Madrid
Nigerian may debut for new club after deadline move from Almeria
Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil says Umar Sadiq will be in the squad for Saturday’s LaLiga Santander match against Atlético de Madrid at the San Sebastián.
The coach reveals at his pre-match press conference that the former Almeria forward is physically fit to play albeit he has only trained once with his new teammates.
Asked whether it was possible for Sadiq to play a part against Atlético de Madrid, the coach said thus: ‘Yes because he is showing it that it is good, why not. He has trained once, but he is very well physically. If I bet on him, it is because I see him well’.
Meanwhile, Sadiq has revealed why he decided to join the Basque outfit.
“I have chosen Real because it is one of the most important teams in Spain. It is a step forward and I am very grateful that they have signed me. I am very happy. Real was the best option, I couldn’t say no.’
He expressed his gratitude towards club president Jokin Aperribay.
‘I would like to thank the president for trusting me. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and I’m very happy to be here. Aúpa Real!’
Aperribay also wished the best to Umar Sadiq.
‘We are very happy that you are here. We wish you all the best. We hope that you connect very well with the fans and that you will be very happy in San Sebastian.’
