Incredible Orban scores four goals in Gent’s 6-2 win

Little known Nigerian brings total haul to seven in five league games

Little known Nigeria forward Gift Orban was the hero of the weekend after scoring four times for Gent in their 6-2 demolition of their host, Zulte Waregem at the Elindus Arena in Waregem in a matchweek 29 Belgian First Division A on Sunday.

Orban, 20, who joined Gent in January this year from Norwegian side, Stabæk Fotball has now scored nine goals in eight appearances for his new club with seven of the goals coming in five games in the league and two in three UEFA Conference League.

The Nigerian scored on his Gent debut at KVC Westerlo last month. The first was an acrobatic finish, while the second was a sweetly struck volley that gave Sinan Bolat absolutely no chance in the Westerlo goal.

Since the, Orban, who scored 19 goals and bagged seven assists in 24 appearances for Stabæk Fotball before his switch to Belgium has become one of the most prolific forwards in the Belgian top flight.

Gent paid €3m for Orban who part of Stabæk’s 2022 promotion winning side, with the Nigerian scoring an impressive 16 goals in 22 league games. He joined the Norwegian side in 2022 from FC Bison in Nigeria.
