‘I’ve Got Four Years Left Here’: Super Eagle Fernandez Commits Future to Rangers

Nigeria international Emmanuel Fernandez has ruled out leaving Scottish Premiership giants Rangers despite reported interest from German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old defender joined Rangers from Peterborough United for £3.5 million last summer and quickly established himself as a key figure at Ibrox.

Fernandez enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign, winning the Rangers Player of the Season award and earning a place in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.

Despite growing speculation over his future, the Nigerian defender insists he remains focused on continuing his development with Rangers and has no plans to seek a move away from the club.

‘I just focus on what’s going on here. If you asked me this question a year ago, it would have been the same answer,” Fernandez was quoted as saying by the Scottish Sun.

‘I’ve got four years left here and I want to enjoy it. I want to win.’

Fernandez also admitted that while the recognition he received last season was rewarding, he believes there is still plenty of room for improvement in his game.

‘I don’t think my personality will ever change. My personality is me,’ he said.

‘Love and acknowledgement is a great thing and it makes you feel a bit better about yourself. But I feel there are more improvements to be made.

‘Right now, I’m not the finished product. There’s still more of the story to go on.’
