Iwobi, Bassey Seek Perfect Evening Again Against Man United

Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey will seek to recreate their memorable match-winning performance when Fulham host Manchester United at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The Nigerians were both on target when Fulham stunned United 2-1 at Old Trafford on February 24, 2024.

Bassey opened the scoring in the 65th minute, converting Timothy Castagne’s assist, before Harry Maguire equalised for United in the 89th minute.

Iwobi, however, had the final say, scoring in the seventh minute of added time to secure a famous victory for the Cottagers.

The pair will be hoping for another influential performance as Fulham chase their first Premier League victory of the season.

Fulham ended their losing start last week with a draw that earned them their first point of the campaign, and they will now look to home advantage and the attacking threat of their Nigerian duo against United.

Iwobi has four wins, two goals and one assist in 17 Premier League appearances against Manchester United.

Bassey, meanwhile, has one win and one goal in six Premier League meetings with the Red Devils.

Iwobi is set to make his 325th Premier League appearance if selected, having so far recorded 35 goals and 38 assists in 324 appearances. He has started 261 of those matches and has played 22,576 minutes, completing 10,672 passes at an 82 per cent success rate.

Bassey, meanwhile, is set to make his 99th Premier League appearance since joining Fulham in 2023.
