Iwobi equals Odemwingie’s EPL single season assists record, moves past Aiyegbeni

Alex Iwobi provided the assist that gave Everton their fourth goal in the surprise 5-1 demolition of Brighton at the Amex stadium, equalling in the process a seven year record set by Peter Osaze Odemwigie.

The Everton midfielder has now provided seven assists in the 35 games he has played this term to equal the seven Odemwigie provided in his debut season in the Premier League, the 2010/2011 season, scoring 15 times in 32 games.

Iwobi has also moved above Yakubu Aiyegbeni in the Nigeria all-time assists list.

The 26 year old has now bagged 27 assists in 218 games to stay just two assists behind Nwankwo Kanu who has provided 29 in 273 appearances.

Iwobi has helped the Toffees to move out of the relegation zone with the big win at the Amex and the Nigerian will be hoping to replicate the same
performance when Everton host Man City on Sunday at Goodison Park.
