Iwobi extends unwanted Premier League record to 106 games

Alex Iwobi was subbed off in Fulham’s 3-1 loss to visiting Liverpool Sunday evening at Craven Cottage to extend an unwanted record of the most subbed off Nigerian players in Premier League history.

Iwobi has been subbed off 106 times in 249 appearances in the Premier League since he made his debut in October 2015, 26 times more than Victor Moses who was subbed off 80 times in the competition and Mikel Obi who was subbed off 63 times in 249 games.

The Fulham midfielder has also moved joint fourth with Mikel in the list of Nigerian players with the most appearances in Premier League history. He has featured 249 times, scored 22 times and bagged 29 assists. He has started 189 of the games and was subbed on 60 times.

Iwobi is joint top Nigerian assist provider with Nwankwo Kanu with 29 and also jointly holds the record of providing the most assist (7) in a Premier League season with Peter Odemwingie.

Iwobi is only the second Nigerian after Joseph Yobo to start every Premier League game in a single season.
