Iwobi Injury Fears Eased After Fulham’s Derby Draw

Fulham manager Marco Silva has played down concerns over Alex Iwobi’s fitness after the midfielder was forced off with a hamstring issue during Saturday’s goalless draw against Brentford.

Iwobi departed just before half-time, replaced by Samuel Chukwueze, but Silva suggested the injury may not be serious.

‘The first reaction that I got from him is that it is not so bad. In the next 24 to 48 hours, the exams will give us a clear picture, and we can be more clear about the availability until the end of the season,’ the Fulham boss said.

The Whites missed the chance to draw level with their west London rivals in the race for European qualification, struggling to create clear openings and relying on goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who produced several key saves.

Silva admitted frustration at the result.

‘It was not at all the result we wanted. We were more dominant first half, but the moment we lost Alex had an impact. As always, you come with ambition to win the game. This afternoon was another chance to get three points. We got one and we have to move on.’

Fulham remain in contention for Europe but will await medical updates on Iwobi as they prepare for the final stretch of the season.
