Iwobi Named In Shearer’s Premier League Team Of The Week

Alan Shearer has hailed the performance of Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi in his Premier League Matchweek eight team of the week.

Iwobi was on from the start to the finish in his seventh straight start for the Toffees this season and 135th overall in 190 appearances in the competition.

The Nigerian was imperious as usual as he made things happen for Everton who recorded their first win of the campaign.

‘”Much-improved performance by Iwobi and set up the winning goal,” wrote Shearer in his Team Of The Week column on the official website of the Premier League.

Iwobi is one of two Everton players who made the list after James Tarkowski was named for being ‘a tower of strength at the back for Everton.”

Manchester City provided three players viz defender Ruben Dias who Shearer said “didn’t put a foot wrong and barely gave Wolves’ attackers a sniff,”
unstoppable midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish.

Arsenal, who returned to the top of the Premier League log also have three players making the cut. They are Granit Xhaka who Shearer said ‘bossed the midfield from start to finish,” defender, Willaim Saliba who, in Shearer’s words “dominated Ivan Toney and scored the opener” and Gabriel Jesus.

Shearer also named Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, the reigning manager of the month for August as the head coach for his best XI.
