Iwobi rated 8 out 10 as Everton stay up after dramatic comeback win

Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi was rated eight of a possible 10 Thursday night when his team, Everton came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and ensure their Premier League safety.

The former Arsenal star was on from the start for a personal record 11th consecutive time and, according to the Liverpool Echo newspaper online version put up another excellent performance.

”Another excellent performance from the midfielder. He was solid when used as wing-back but really came to life when swapped to his natural position – with his industry and creativity crucial,’ wrote the highly authoritative newspaper of the Nigerian.

Only Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored the dramatic 85th-minute winner was rated better than Iwobi as he was given 10 out of 10.

‘After a season of injury hell, he stands up and scores a phenomenal diving header to confirm Everton’s place in the Premier League next season. And he was great throughout the rest of the game, too,’ the newspaper wrote about the forward whose goal secured the much needed survival.

The game was Iwobi’s 21st start in 27 Premier League game this season, the third highest appearance he has made in a season after featuring 30 times for the Toffees last season and 35 for Arsenal in the 2018/2019 season.

It was his 182nd game in the English topflight since and the victory was his 82nd.

The Nigerian has scored just twice this season in 27 appearances and 15th in 182 games. He has bagged two assists this season and 20 overall since he bagged his first assists, two against West Ham in April 2016.

It was also his seventh Premier League game against Crystal Palace ( eighth across all competitions) and he has won four and scored twice.
