Iwobi resumes chase for Odemwingie, Kanu assists record

Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi will be seeking to end the 2022/23 Premier League season as the Nigerian with the most assists both in a single Premier League

season and in history.

The 26 year has provided six assists in 31 games so far this term and 26 in 214 Premier League games since he made his debut in the competition.

Iwobi needs an assist on Saturday when Everton play Crystal Palace to equal the seven provided by Peter Osaze Odemwigie in the 2010/11-7 season.

That remains the most number of assists provided by a Nigerian in a Premier League season.

The former Arsenal star also needs three more before the end of the season to equal Nwankwo Kanu’s record 29 assists ever set by a Nigerian in the history of

the competition.

Iwobi has started in all the 31 Premier League games Everton have played so far this term and he is set to make his 32nd start against Palace.
If he plays, it will be his 215th in the competition since he made his debut in October 2015.

He has scored 16 times with five of the goals coming in 114 games for the Toffees.
