Iwobi Scores Stunning Goal to End Spurs’ Hoodoo, Becomes First Nigerian to Reach 10,000 Passes

Alex Iwobi finally broke his scoring drought against Tottenham Hotspur with a stunning strike in Fulham’s 2-0 win.

The Nigerian midfielder had never found the net in 16 previous Premier League appearances against Spurs, nor in 18 across all competitions, but he ended that run in style with a composed finish in the 34th minute.

Iwobi combined neatly with Harry Wilson before side-footing past Guglielmo Vicario from the edge of the box, a technique that surprised many.

‘That is an amazing goal,’ said Premier League pundit Don Hutchison. ‘Normally when you score from there you drive it with your laces, he’s actually placed it away from the goalkeeper.’

The strike also added Spurs to the list of Premier League clubs Iwobi has scored against, making them the 19th side he has punished.

It was his 35th Premier League goal overall, with more than half of those (18) coming in a Fulham shirt, compared to the 17 he managed across 223 appearances for Arsenal and Everton combined.

Beyond the goal, Iwobi reached another historic milestone: he has now completed 10,031 passes in the Premier League, with an accuracy rate of 82 percent.

That achievement makes him the first Nigerian player in history to surpass the 10,000-pass mark in the competition, underlining his consistency and influence in midfield.
