Iwobi set to become Nigerian with most minutes played in Premier League history

Fulham star also gunning to become fifth Nigerian with a century of Premier League wins

If Alex Iwobi plays for more than 60 minutes for Fulham at the City Ground on Tuesday evening against Nothingham Forest, he will become the Nigerian with the most minutes played in Premier League history.

So far, the 27 year old former Arsenal player has played 16, 168 minutes of football in the 245 appearances he has made since he made his debut in the competition in October 2015.

He is just 60 minutes short of the 16, 228 minutes Chelsea legend, Mikel Obi played in 249 matches in the competition.

Iwobi will overtake Mikel if he plays more than 60 minutes in what will be his 246th game.

He will also be three games away from equalling Mikel’s 249 games to move to joint fourth in terms of appearances by a Nigerian in the history of the competition .

Iwobi is also on the verge of equalling and surpassing the assists record set by a Nigerian in the Premier League. He has provided 28 assists, one less than Nwankwo Kanu who has made 29 assists in 273 appearances.

If Fulham get a win at the City Ground with Iwobi in action, it will be the Nigerian’s 100th Premier League win.

The former Arsenal star will thus become the fifth Nigerian player in the competition to achieve 100th win in the history of the competition.
