Iwobi set to play under eighth manager after Everton employ Sean Dyche as new coach

Nigerian most successful under Arsene Wenger

Alex Iwobi will play under his eighth manager in the Premier League since he made his debut in the competition in October 2015 for Arsenal after Everton appointed former Burnley boss, Sean Dyche as Frank Lampard’s successor.

Iwobi started his senior career under the legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger in 2015 and went on to play 98 times and scored nine times and provided 16 assists for the Frenchman, his best goal involvement record till date.

After Wenger was sacked by Arsenal in April 2018, Iwobi featured 51 times under the Frenchman’s successor,Unai Emery. He scored six times and bagged nine assists before the Spaniard sanctioned his transfer to Everton in August 2019.

At Everton, Iwobi played under four coaches and a caretaker manager with Marco Silva, the current Fulham manager the one who bought him from Arsenal.

The Nigerian played just 16 times, scored twice and bagged an assist before the coach was fired.

Under caretaker coach Duncan Ferguson, Iwobi only featured four times before former AC Milan, Chesea and Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti took charge of the Toffees.

Under Ancelotti, the 26 year old played 45 times across all compoetitions, scored twice and bagged three assists.

When Ancelotti heeded the call of Real Madrid for his second stint, former Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez took over but his stay was not successful. The Nigerian featured in just 15 games under the Spaniard. He scored twice and bagged just an assist.

Chelsea and England legend, Frank Lampard took over and gave the Nigerian a new lease on life as he became a regular player and started in all 35 Premier League games he featured in since the start of 2022.

Iwobi will be hoping to continue with his renaissance under Dyche whose brand of football is markedly different from Lampard’s.
