John Terry: Only Arsenal and Chelsea Can Win the Premier League This Season

Chelsea legend John Terry has weighed in on the Premier League title race, insisting that only Arsenal and his former club Chelsea are capable of lifting the trophy this season.

The Gunners strengthened their grip on top spot with a commanding 4-1 victory over rivals Tottenham at the Emirates, moving six points clear of the chasing pack. After finishing runners-up in recent campaigns, Mikel Arteta’s side now look well placed to finally end their long wait for a league crown.

Liverpool, meanwhile, appear to have fallen completely out of contention. The defending champions suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, their sixth loss in seven league matches under Arne Slot.

Manchester City also stumbled, losing 2-1 away to Newcastle, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side seven points adrift of Arsenal.

That leaves Chelsea as the closest challengers. Under Enzo Maresca, the Blues have strung together three consecutive wins and clean sheets, capped by a 2-0 victory at Burnley.

With Arsenal visiting Stamford Bridge this weekend, Terry believes the clash could prove pivotal.

‘I’m not saying it’s going to be a title decider, but I think it’s going to be one of the two teams who win the league,’ he said in a TikTok video. ‘For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. They look like they’re really struggling at the moment.’

Reflecting on Chelsea’s performance at Burnley, Terry praised the defensive resilience shown in the first half, highlighting three crucial blocks that kept the hosts at bay. He admitted, however, that the team must be more clinical in front of goal when facing stronger opposition.
