Jordan Ayew Set to Become Ghana’s Oldest World Cup Player
Jordan Ayew is poised to make history when Ghana face Panama in their opening Group L match of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The veteran forward will become the oldest player ever to represent the Black Stars at the tournament, a milestone that underscores both his longevity and his importance to the team.
At 34 years and 279 days, Ayew will surpass Denis Odoi’s previous record of 34 years and 185 days, set against South Korea in 2022.
This achievement adds another chapter to Ayew’s distinguished international career, which now includes appearances at three World Cups viz 2014, 2022, and 2026.
He joins Andre Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, and Sulley Muntari as the only Ghanaians to feature in three editions of the competition.
