Jorginho: ‘I Told Napoli Sporting Director To Sign Osimhen Straight Away’

Arsenal of England midfielder, Jorginho has revealed he gave Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli the nod to sign Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen when his advice was sought sometimes in 2020.

Osimhen joined Napoli in September 2020 from Ligue 1 side, Lille and Giuntoli will be garteful to Jorginho.

“I knew Osimhen. I had played against him in Champions League and he had given a hard time to our defenders.

‘Giuntoli called me before signing him and I told him to sign him straight away, he is very promising and is doing really well.

‘They [Osimhen and Kvara] are flying and everything is going well. There is winning energy,” Jorginho told DAZN on Monday night.

The Nigerian has been a revelation since he joined the Serie A side, scoring 47 goals in 85 appearances for Napoli across all competitions.

This term, the 24 year old is having his best season in the Italian topflight.

He has scored 19 goals in 23 games for the parnetopei across all competitions this season and 18 of the goals have come in 19 Serie A games.

The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup top scorer and winner leads the top scorer’s race with his 18 goals, five ahead of second placed Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and six ahead of compatriot, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
