Josh King Beats Iwobi to Fulham’s Man of the Match Award

Josh King has beaten Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi to Fulham’s Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match award following their Premier League victory over Hull City.

King secured 38.6 per cent of the votes to finish ahead of Iwobi, who received 23.4 per cent, while Sander Berge came third with 10.9 per cent. The four midfielders, including Shea Charles, accounted for 80 per cent of the total votes.

The young midfielder impressed with his movement, ball-carrying ability and creativity as Fulham claimed their first Premier League victory of the season.

King was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet after being denied twice by Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis. He also created several opportunities for his teammates, including a superb pass for Gonzalo García and a skilful turn followed by a cross that nearly resulted in a second goal for Iwobi.

Despite missing out on a goal or assist, King was delighted that Fulham secured the three points.

‘I would have liked to have come away with something more, myself personally, a goal or assist,’ he said. ‘But the main thing was that we got the win, and that’s so massive for us. My goals and assists will come, but today it’s all about the team.’
