Julien Alfred Takes 100m in 10.76, Inspired by Usain Bolt
Julien Alfred delivered a commanding performance in the women’s 100m at the Oslo Diamond League, clocking 10.76 seconds to secure victory. The Saint Lucian sprinter celebrated not only the win but also her growing confidence and enjoyment of the sport.
‘I am healthy and I am happy to get the win here. I would say I am trusting myself a lot more. And I am having so much more fun,’ Alfred said after the race.
She credited her mental coach for reminding her that authenticity is her greatest strength: ‘Before I came here, my mental coach said to me: when you be yourself, it is the most powerful thing that you can do.’
Alfred emphasized the importance of staying healthy and appreciating every opportunity to compete among the world’s best athletes.
‘I work very hard to get to this point in my life. Just being here, racing amongst the best athletes in the world, like I said, I am appreciating every chance I get to run. I love the competitiveness in the 100m right now. It keeps me on my toes to go out there and compete and be at my best every single time I line up.’
She also revealed her admiration for sprinting icon Usain Bolt, whom she met last year.
‘Usain Bolt, that is still the person I look up to. I met him last year for the very first time and he is still the one to look up to until today.’
