Kebinatshipi Completes Perfect Diamond League Season With 43.40 Run, Targets Ogazi’s World Lead!

Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi capped a remarkable Diamond League season in style on Friday, winning the men’s 400m at the Brussels final in a national record of 43.40 seconds and securing the Wanda Diamond League Trophy.

The victory completed Kebinatshipi’s unbeaten campaign in the Diamond League, with the Botswana star admitting that while both the victory and his time were incredible, lifting the coveted trophy stood out most.

‘Both the win and the time are incredible, but taking home the Wanda Diamond League Trophy stands out the most. After staying undefeated all season, I feel like I really deserve this reward,’ Kebinatshipi said.

The 22-year-old also paid tribute to the Brussels crowd for helping drive him to his record-breaking performance.

‘I would like to thank the crowd for the amazing energy, I felt pushed all throughout,’ he added.

Kebinatshipi has now set his sights on the World Ultimate Championships in Budapest, where he hopes to lower his season-leading mark by another two hundredths of a second.

‘I hope to finish this season as the world leader and for that I will need to find 0.02 seconds next week at the World Ultimate Championships in Budapest,’ he said.

The Botswana star identified his back straight as the main area requiring improvement ahead of Budapest.

‘The main part that needs to improve is my back straight. That will be the focus in Budapest: not being too relaxed in the first part,’ Kebinatshipi said.
